“I was trying to get a water Pokemon.”, explained nineteen-year-old Shayla Wiggins who discovered a man’s corpse lying face-down in a river near her home. Shayla woke up early on the morning of Friday, July 8th to play PokemonGo, a new app which projects Pokemon characters onto the player’s real-life surroundings. Shayla hopped over a fence near Highway 789 Bridge in Big Wind River, Wyoming in an attempt to reach the river where special characters which can be found near natural water sources would become available. The teenager confessed, “I probably would have never went down there if it weren’t for this game.”. As Shayla walked along the shore towards the Highway 789 Bridge, she spotted something in the water that was not a Pokemon, “I had to take a second look and I realized it was a body.”. Shayla called police and waited near the bridge for them to arrive. Despite being, “really scared”, after her grisly discovery the teen commented, “I might go get a water Pokemon. I’m going to try.”.
